Guardianship and Conservatorship

A guardianship and conservatorship are a protective arrangement established by the court system on behalf of an incapacitated individual or a minor child. Most guardianships are established on behalf of older adults when they are no longer able to care for themselves or their estate due to mental illness, dementia, intellectual disability, or physical incapacity. In some cases, we may recommend a conservatorship, which is a court proceeding that only addresses financial decision-making. These applications are helpful to prevent elder abuse or financial exploitation.
